Disappointment

How can we handle disappointment in our life?  Its hard sometimes to take disappointment, it can hit you hard and fast ...so how can we change how we feel?

The first step is YOU choose how you feel, so perhaps the first step would be to think positive. Let go of the hurt or the pain of the disappointment. Move on and learn from it. In the end it only affects YOU, so take a deep breath .... step away from the situation, let it go and live long and prosper!

Here a a few quotes...
  • Our best successes often come after our greatest disappointments.
  • Our real blessings often appear to us in the shape of pains, losses and disappointments; but let us have patience and we soon shall see them in their proper figures.
  • It's easy to get negative because you get beat down. You go through a few disappointments and it's easy to stay in that negative frame of mind. Choosing to be positive and having a grateful attitude is a whole cliche, but your attitude is going to determine how you're going to live your life.

Space Clearing

Space Clearing

Over time negative emotional and mental residual energy gathers and accumulates in our homes and workplaces. This residual energy has an effect on the people living there, whether they are aware of it or not. Its a good idea to consciously remove this energy with a space clearing ritual or intention.

Smudging can be used for yourself, for others, together with your rituals, for your altar and sacred space, healing, spiritual ceremonies and blessings.

What is smudging?

Smudging is a spiritual way to purify, sanctify, clear or bless a place or a person. It has been used around the world by native traditions such as the native American tradition from the beginning of time. Smudging is done with a bundle of sacred herbs such as tobacco, sweetgrass, sage, palo santo or cedar. Other sacred herbs or a blend of herbs can be used.

The really important thing about smudging is not the amount of smoke created but the sacred connection you make with the herb in use.

Before starting you should do a small ritual. This can be a short meditation or a simple blessing ceremony or anything that helps you to connect with the sacredness of life and the sacredness of the actual purifying herb being used.

Practical Side to Smudging
  • You need to use a fireproof container for the smudge stick.
  • Note that during smudging burning bits may fall off so if smudging indoors or around a person you must be very careful.
  • General fire awareness and common sense is needed when using fire indoors.
  • Having access to a bowl of water when smudging.
  • If you use Abalone shells or other shells with sage or other herbs you may put a layer of soil or sand into the shell to protect it as the smudge could leave burn marks into it.
Here at Healing Waters we use Palo Santo

Palo Santo ~ Holy Wood
  • Palo Santo “Holy Wood” is one of the most important trees used in botanical medicines throughout South America.
  • The Palo Santo tree belongs to the same family (Burseraceae) as frankincense and myrrh.
  • These Palo Santo sticks can be used as a 100% natural incense.
  • Palo Santo sticks do produce lots of wonderfully scented smoke which is suitable for spiritual and religious activities such as ceremonies, rituals or spiritual healing.

Rest and be still ...

Relaxation and Meditation is a great way to feel wonderfully at peace.

I often hear people say that they are not very successful and think its not that easy. So below are a few tips to help. Remember that you don't need to have rules and sit in full lotus to enjoy the benefits.

During meditation your metabolism and your breath rate go down to a level of rest, twice that of deep sleep.

Tips to help
  1. Sit: Find a comfy spot
  2. Stretch: Take a few stretches, to loosen the muscles and tendons allowing you to sit more comfortably.
  3. Candle: Light a candle and use it as your point of focus as you begin
  4. Eyes: Close your eyes, this takes away one of your senses and helps you to relax
  5. Breath: Breathing deep slows the heart rate, relaxes the muscles, focuses the mind
  6. Wandering: If your mind wanders, don’t give up! When this happens, focus on your breath and carry on, let the thoughts just go ... don’t focus on them.
  7. Progressive relaxation: place your attention to your feet and invite them to relax…then slowly move your way up the body, inviting as you flow up your body.
  8. Allow: Allow yourself to just be!

Goddess of the Corn

Today I've picked a oracle card for our thoughts and musings.

From The Goddess Inspiration Oracle Set.

Today we have:

Changing Woman ~ Goddess of the Corn
She is also known as Estsanatlehi

Her Message to us today is: All of life's seasons bring blessings - appreciate them.

Her deeper message to us is about transition and the allowing of change.  As we move through endless changes in our lives we can walk them with grace and confidence. To use the elements of the earth and to empower ourselves and understand that we can accept the changes and welcome the blessings that they bring.

Estsanatlehi is the Apache and Navajo name for the Great Goddess known as the Changing Woman or Turquoise Woman.

Estsanatlehi (pronounced es-tan-AHT-lu-hee),  She never grew old. When her age began to show, she simply walked toward the east until she saw her form coming toward herself. She kept walking until her young self merged with her aging self and then, renewed, returned to her home.
  • As the seasons change, so does her appearance, reminding us of time’s movement and the earth’s cycles
  • Estsanatlehi represents the changing of the seasons of the earth and the resulting changes in our life.
  • Call upon Estsanatlehi when you want to feel younger and feel the need to renew yourself.
  • She asks that you use Turquoise to help renew yourself and your outlook on life.

Going within

Going within with the Waning Moon

Today is also called 'Blue Monday' so perhaps it’s a good time to look within and let go of old stuff from last year.

The full moon is on well on its way to waning now and it’s not too late to release stuff that no longer serves you.

As we prepare for the next New Moon, the time of new beginnings, we can use the energy of the waning moon for banishing bad habits or ending negative relationships. But also things that influences us in negative ways. Negative emotions can all be let go of to bring cleansing and clearing.

Why keep the pain or niggles trapped within your heart… let it go, what exactly do you have to lose?

Pride maybe, resentment, principle or injustice?

It doesn't mean you have to allow it to happen again but respect and thank that part of you that is protective and let those trapped emotions go and begin to feel free.

Exercise
  1. Light a candle (be fire safe)
  2. Sitting opposite and close your eyes and go within...
  3. Search for those emotions and acknowledge them for what they are.
  4. Take a deep breath and let the breath slowly and softly release though your mouth,  towards the candle flame.
  5. Allow the candle flame to take away the energy that no longer serves you.
  6. Search for the next emotion and repeat.
  7. Once complete, thank your inner being and the flame of the candle for their help.
